More and more farmworkers are adopting unhealthy coping mechanisms like
drinking or drug use to manage stress often caused by challenges such as
language barriers, isolation, lack of emotional support, and poverty.
Outreach professionals oftentimes find it complicated and challenging to
effectively address this sensitive issue as they strive to conduct
outreach with our nation's farmworkers. 

This National Peer-to-Peer Conference Call offers outreach professionals
the opportunity to talk with experienced panel members about how to know
when substance abuse is a problem in your community through conducting a
needs assessment, how to offer helpful prevention services, how to
respond when you suspect or encounter substance abuse in the field, and
what other programs are doing to address substance abuse related issues
in their communities.
