Subject: Healthcare Associated Infections - IT Stakeholder Meeting
Invitation- Denver - July 24
<<HAI IT Stakeholder Mtngs Agenda 07072009.doc>>
On behalf of Dr. Don Wright, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for
Health of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), we would
like to thank you for your interest in reducing and preventing
healthcare-associated infections.
As you may know, HHS issued an initial version of the HHS Action Plan to
Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections in January 2009 (
www.hhs.gov/ophs/initiatives/hai/index.html
<http://www.hhs.gov/ophs/initiatives/hai/index.html> ) and,
concurrently, requested feedback from the public to further enhance the
Action Plan and establish priorities for a national HAI prevention
effort. An Action Plan revision which incorporates the comments received
from the public was recently completed in June 2009.
The Department of Health and Human Services would like to invite
regional, state, and local health officials and healthcare facility
leaders and staff to attend a half-day meeting regarding specific
information technology challenges as it pertains to
healthcare-associated infection related data collection and reporting.
We have scheduled a regional meeting on the following dates:
Denver, Colorado - Friday, July 24, 2009 from 9 am to 12 pm
The agenda for these three regional meetings will focus on specific
information system and technology related strategies with the
understanding that data collection and reporting is essential to
decreasing healthcare-associated infections.
Please see the attached agenda for additional details regarding the
meeting and its purpose. Space is limited, so please RSVP for the
regional meeting. You may do so at:
www.keystone.org/informationtechnology
<http://www.keystone.org/informationtechnology> or by calling Ms. Amber
Brummer at (970) 513-5805.
Thank you for your interest and involvement in this important issue. We
look forward to continued dialogue with you.
Please note that this meeting is in addition to the Public Forum on HAI
which is on Saturday, July 25. Register online at:
