To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Alexandra Mannix, I am the National Data Collection
Coordinator for the Behavioral Medicine team at the University of
Florida. I am working to recruit Health care sites throughout the
United States to participate in our research. I am hoping you
might be of some help in our attempts.

This research project is titled the "Patient-Centered Culturally
Sensitive Health Care and Health Promotion Project" and is funded
by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The innovative approach of
this initiative is to have ethnic minority and low-income patients
define "culturally sensitive/competent health care" for
themselves, rather than having it defined by professional experts
for them (as is the norm).

Specifically, the project is designed to obtain national data to
refine: (a) inventories for health care providers and office staff
to self-assess their cultural sensitivity, (b) an inventory for
culturally diverse patients to assess the cultural sensitivity of
their providers and office staff, their health care evironments,
and the health care policies at their health care sites, and (c) a
novel but practical clinical tool for individualizing
patient-centered culturally sensitive health care ( i.e., a brief
inventory that instructs a patient to place checks by the provider
behaviors and attitudes that are most important to her/him, and
that is then reviewed by the provider just before meeting with the
patient).

I can provide you with additional information about the study if
you decide to assist us in our recruitment, but I have attached a
benefits flyer regarding both patients and health care providers.

Please let me know if you would like to help us with our innovate
project!

Thank you,
Alexandra (Lexie) Mannix
